So, we left off where they sent me home from the hospital with meds after a night on the IV. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday were more of the same. I didn’t improve at all. No sleep, couldn’t hold anything down. Couldn’t drink, couldn’t eat, nothing. CSP put buckets all over the house because I couldn’t make it to the bathroom in time most of the time. I was feeling even more weak and light headed. When they released me from the hospital Wednesday morning they told me if I wasn’t better in 2 days to come back because I’d need to be back on the IV. Well here it was Friday afternoon and no better. I called my doctor’s office to see if they could do an IV there but apparently you have to go to the hospital. So we went. (more…)

CSP cracks me up. The other day I was getting ready for bed. He was already in the bed and I was in the bathroom flossing and whatnot. I told him that I had just noticed the collar of a new tshirt of mine was ruined. I had worn it when I got my hair done a couple days before and apparently some chemical got on it and had bleached it. So I told CSP the shirt was ruined and what happened.
CSP- Is it an aqua shirt, at least? (he dislikes aqua & it’s my favorite color so I wear it all the time)
Me- No it’s purple.
CSP- WHY DOES THE UNIVERSE HATE ME???
—————————–
I was in the kitchen & CSP was in the den the other day when I heard him yell ” Why do you always have to stand on my nipples??” I’m assuming he was talking to one of the pugs. I hope.

Sunday night (Mother’s Day night), CSP, the pugs, and I went up to bed. I wasn’t feeling all that hot but didn’t think much of it. Until I woke up and had to race to the bathroom to throw up. Now, if you don’t want to hear any more about this kind of stuff, come back in a week or so and I’ll be talking about other stuff. (more…)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day Weekend! Friday CSP & I had our adoption physicals. They took longer than I thought they would & included blood draws. Sorry CSP, didn’t read the fine print on that form! Saturday CSP took his mom to the baseball game for some Mother’s Day time together. He dropped me off at Shannon’s house on the way. We had Chinese food & played with Emily.
Good grief I love that kid.
She kills me she is so funny! She says the funniest, sweetest things. Apparently I’ve been upgraded to “best fwiend” status. She was crawling all over me and we just had the best time.CSP picked me up and on the way home we stopped in at Walmart to pick up some pug food. We went in the entrance by the bakery and I saw these hilarious cakes for sale! WHO would pay money for these??? They were all in the Mother’s Day case. Really? Happy Mother’s Day Mom! Here’s a turdmonster cake!
With tiny poo trails!
Click to enlarge the beauty that are these cakes!
Wouldn’t you want to pay $15 for this?
Nothing says Mother’s Day like death roses1
Stay gold, Pony Boy.
I couldn’t believe all these cakes were in one place! It was a cake wreck jackpot! While at Walmart I started feeling weird. Dizzy and sweaty. Had to sit down for a while in the shoe department before we could leave. Weird.Sunday I woke up feeling weird again and had some issues that made me run a little behind in meeting up with the family. We all met up for lunch to celebrate Gigi. After lunch we visited some friends then took the boys out for ice cream. Kids and ice cream crack me up. What a fun mess!
Jacob is getting so big! So handsome!
Joey wanted to show me his teeth. Ha!
After ice cream we parted ways. Gigi & I picked up a movie on the way home. What a waste! We suffered through Couple’s Retreat. Even the delightful cast couldn’t save this wreck of a movie! After the movie I started feeling poorly again so I left just as they were preparing dinner. I made it home and a couple hours later is when all the fun really started. Stay tuned! -
We spent our Cinco de Mayo running some errands. Kiki had her follow up appointment to make sure her eye has healed nicely. It has. Yay!
Kiki did so well that we took her for a doggy sundae at Bruster’s. They are free and so cute!
Kiki LOVES the sundaes!
After the vet & ice cream we stopped by Papa & Gigi’s house. Momo was all dressed up. When I asked why she said “Duh, Shanny, it’s Cinco de Mayo!”
Wow, what was I thinking? What with us being Irish and all it totally slipped my mind to celebrate our Mexican heritage. Look at my sweet Momo, all grown up! Muy Bonita! -
- Why smokers think it’s ok to throw their butts out their car windows as if their butts aren’t FLAMING LITTER! It’s dangerous, rude, and bad for the environment.
- Fax machines. I can wrap my head around scanners and copiers, but fax machines straight up blow my mind.
- How my hair grows so fast until I’m actually trying to grow it out.
- If you stop shaving your legs will the hair grow down to the ground or stop at some predetermined length?
- How some people go for sooo long without going on vacation. Even if it’s just for a couple days, you GOTTA get away! Make some memories!
- Why our pugs aren’t bald. I swear they shed all their hair then regrow it daily!

We took the pugs for their adoption physical Wednesday and like most things in our life, it was pretty entertaining! We were really excited to see how much weight the girls had lost. At their last annual check up we were told that Molly & Kiki needed to lose some weight. So we stopped buying pre-made dog treats and started giving them carrots and green beans instead. And it worked! Kiki weighed in at 16.2 lbs which means she lost 1.2 lbs. And Molly weighed in at 21 lbs which means she lost 4! Woot! Such supermodels! For the record, Zoe gained just .1 lbs which was just fine because she was still growing and is now at a perfect weight. Our vet was very pleased with our girls. We’ve been going to Dr. Martin for years, for the pugs’ entire lives. And our girls LOVE Dr. Martin and her staff. LOVE. Just look at Miss Zoe getting lovies from Brandy the vet tech.
Click to enlarge. That thing Brandy is sitting on is an adjustable scale. It starts out on the floor so they can weigh big dogs. Then Brandy tapped the foot pedal thing to raise it up then they can use it as an exam table. As soon as Brandy hit the pedal and the thing started raising up Zoe ran and jumped up on the scale and rode it all the way up like some sort of amusement park ride! Brandy’s eyes got big as dinner plates. She told us that was a first, no dog has ever done that before! Leave it to my Zoe!Then it was Molly’s turn to get checked out. She’s covered in moles and skin tags and little warty looking things so they really go over her with a fine toothed comb.
She’s not crazy about this part.Since the pugs did so well at the vet we took them to Bruster’s to get doggie sundaes. I love that Bruster’s does this! The sundaes are free. They are a little scoop of vanilla ice cream with a milk bone. They pugs went nuts! I’d have taken pictures but it was a mob scene in the truck as soon as we gave the girls their sundaes. But here’s a pic so you get the idea.
After ice cream we stopped by the store so CSP could run in and pick up something. I snapped the cutest pic of Molly & Zoe looking out the window, watching out for their daddy.
Kiki meanwhile was snoozing in my lap. They all had a big day and were exhausted by the time we got home. Our sweet girls! -
The other day we walked out to the car and there was a lady and a toddler in our driveway. I said hello and she said “Oh, hi, sorry, we’re getting out of the way. We were just following the vulture” and she picked up her son and walked away. I didn’t see a vulture anywhere so we just got in the car and left. We had a full day of errands including a vet appointment for all 3 pugs (more on that later). We were in and out of the house all day. At about 7 ish we pulled in to the driveway and my neighbor C, along with a bunch of kids came running over.
I got out of the truck and they were all so excited to tell me what we’d just missed! Apparently that lady really WAS following a vulture! A vulture had hurt its wing and was strolling around our neighborhood. C saw it chilling on our porch, hopping up on our truck (!) and generally just tooling around. She called Carolina Raptor Center to come out and rescue the vulture. In the meantime C gathered up some neighbors and they cornered the vulture, covered it with a blanket to calm it, and put it in a box to wait for the raptor people. C showed me the pictures she took of the whole adventure. I’ve stolen a couple to show you!
Here he is in front of our other neighbor’s house. And here he is in his rescue box.
Who knew we even had vultures in our hood?? I’m so proud of C & her kids for rescuing this guy! -
As soon as the thaw comes I start thinking about my birthday. It’s my favorite day. Who doesn’t love a day all about them?! Oh, in case you’re wondering, my birthday is August 3. Anyway, I saw this and just love it! What a girly birthday candle! -
CSP & I went to see How to Train Your Dragon in IMAX 3D the other night. I had already seen this movie in regular 3d for Momo’s birthday and I couldn’t wait to see the difference IMAX would make. I called the theatre and asked the theatre man what is the difference between regular 3d and IMAX 3d. Previously my only IMAX experience was at Discovery Place in their dome. I knew that our local theatre didn’t have a dome so I was really curious how they did this. The theatre man said that the IMAX screen was 30% larger than the standard cinema screen, that they project with 2 projectors instead of just the one, and that the sound is just amazing. If you go to our theatre Monday- Thursday it’s only $5. Then you have to add the 3d charge to it ($5) plus the IMAX charge ($2). Not cheap, but we don’t do IMAX often. That’s why we planned on going during the week. If we’d gone on a weekend it would have been like $17 each!CSP had never seen a 3d movie so this was exciting all around. I was really curious to see what the difference would be between the 2 movie experiences, but wow, I was blown away! First of all, the sound was amazing! You could feel the bass all up in your body! Then the colors! OMG the colors! In regular 3d Toothless (who I adore and want as a pet) was black with a little silver. In IMAX he had green and blue and purple in his scales too. Gorgeous. The details were amazing too. I noticed skin freckles and scars and hairs that I didn’t before. Fibers in their clothes. Highlights in their hair. Textures in their clothes and surroundings. Plus somehow the 3d seemed even more come out and getcha! The whole thing was just amazing. Plus CSP loved the movie too. We had a great time. For that price seeing an IMAX movie is definitely a special occasion thing. Unfortunately the 3d gave CSP a headache and he declared himself a 2d man from here on out. Sigh. Oh well, he does call me a techno geek, and I guess the name fits!
