Today is Jacob’s 5th birthday. I am not at his party. Boo. But there are SO many kids there and my tendency to love up on the children it’s best that I am still in quarantine.
Although, yesterday I did bust out for the day. I went to Sara’s and caught a ride with her down to my Mom’s house. Jake & Joey were in the car with us. Papa babysat the boys while us girls went out for lunch and a movie to celebrate Morgan’s 18th bday. I can’t tell you how hard it was to be around my family and not give out hugs and kisses. We’re a huggy kissy family! But I kept to myself. On the way down I let Jake open up his presents from Uncle Jon & me. We gave him this cool led light up football It turns all sorts of colors. V.v. cool. We also got him a new pair of Crocs Bayas . He LOVES them. We got him a pair of Caymans last year and he has literally worn the tread completely smooth on the bottom. They are such great kids shoes. I got Joey a new little Jibbitz for his Crocs too.
So we dropped the kids off and piled into Morgan’s car and headed for lunch. But we didn’t think to check business hours so our intended lunch destination didn’t work out. We ended up having burritos at Moe’s. I can’t believe it but I didn’t take a single picture all day. So you can’t see the delight on Momo’s face as she opened her present. We went big this year as it’s her 18th/Graduation present. We thought we could buy 2 small presents or 1 big so we went big. She was thrilled. We got her a new digital camera. I also found this super cute skin for the camera, and a wristlet on ebay as a carrying case. So she’s all set.
After lunch we walked over to the movie theatre and saw 21. It was cute. I’m amazed at their mental abilities. I can’t stay focused long enough to count enough cards in a suit much less a bunch of decks!
CSP likes his blanket. Good thing, since you can’t un-cut!
In other news….guess who can walk up and down stairs now like a big girl? Zoe? Nope, me! I haven’t been able to go up and down stairs like a normal person for a year because of my knee. Now I don’t have to take each step one at a time. Yay! I can also get out of bed, or up out of a chair and just walk. I don’t have to stop and shift my weight slowly to my bad leg. You don’t even know what a big deal all this is to me. It’s the little things that make me happy.
I’m really tired of being cooped up. More tired of being on these funky meds. They make my head all swimmy (like I’m right in the middle of a big night of margarita drinking) and my hands are all shaky. Which sucks, cause I was hoping I could get some projects done (painting & jewelry) while being trapped indoors but it’s not working out. I need a steady hand for both. I’m not even able to get too caught up on blog reading as I can only seem to sit at the computer for 10-15 minutes at a time before my head starts throbbing. UGH. On to other things…
I have been enjoying the new show Miss Guided. Love Judy Greer. I’ve also been wearing Netflix out. I finished Season 1 of The Tudors & saw Enchanted. I watched the first disc of Season 1 of Dexter but just couldn’t get into it. I know I probably just lost some hipster cool points there (cause a wheezy housewife hopped up on the roids is THE epitome of hipster cool).
I did manage to make a no sew fleece blanket for CSP with his new Vikings fleece. I hope he likes it. I made it today while he was at work and he hasn’t seen it yet. He picked out the fleece, but he thought it was fine the way it was. Just a long piece of fleece. I couldn’t leave well enough alone.
My illness & lockdown situation may prove to be a problem this weekend. Morgan turns 18 next week and we had planned on celebrating Saturday. And Jacob turns 5 on Sunday. There’s a party at his crib, yo. I doubt my doctor will advise me to go to a birthday party filled with a bajillion kids age 7 and younger running around flinging bacteria. Luckily Jake is still little and will just love having his peeps around. I can always visit when I get better and give him his present then. New Crocs with Sponge Bob Jibbitz. Shhh, don’t tell him. By the way, is it just me or is the chick on the Crocs website Libby from Lost?
The big problem with Morgan’s birthday is that not only do I have pneumonia, but she’s dealing with a case of MRSA! Spot on her leg (probably a shaving nick) started hurting. Then her whole leg hurt. Mom took her to a doctor and he was an ass and unhelpful. So she took Momo to another doctor who knew right off the bat what they were dealing with. Poor thing’s been bandaged up and dealing with shots. Plus she’s been kept out of school & work. Thank goodness my mom followed her gut instinct & went with another doctor! Morgan could have lost her leg! As is she’s going to be dealing with a big scar. I miss her. I hate not being able to go see her. And I’m gonna be really bummed if my doctor puts the kebash (sp?) on me hanging with her Saturday.
The pugs have been keeping me company. Molly & Zoe crack me up. They love each other and are practically joined at the hip. Things will start off all nice and sweet: Then next thing you know they are fighting to the death (You’ve GOT to click to enlarge to get a good look at the stink eyes!): It can get intense: Then quick as it starts it’s over. They cool off: Then they cuddle up: And life is good again.
Wednesday I went to my hair girl’s house and got my hair done. This was the day before I found out I had pneumonia. I took Zoe with me to meet her. I knew Sarah would just love her and I was right. But who knew Sarah’s boxer, Bones, would fall in love so fast!?! Sarah’s husband put out 2 water bowls for the dogs and of course Zoe chose the big one. It was so funny to see big ol’ Bones drinking out of that tiny bowl! He let Zoe chew his rawhide and chase him around.
He followed her around like a love sick puppy. He didn’t want her to leave. It was so sweet. He’d give her a big lick and leave her all sopping wet with her hair sticking up all over.
Speaking of hair, I moved from bronde to blonde again for Spring. I swear, she gives the best hair cuts and does the best highlighting. Oh, and they had a new hi def flat screen tv. I was blown away. I’m not normally picky about what tv I watch. As long as I can see it I’m fine. But holy smokes, the picture, the clarity! We watched the food channel and you could see the seeds in the little cherry tomatoes, and the veins in the herbs. I was in awe!
Since we couldn’t go anywhere for Easter, Jon’s parents brought Easter dinner to us. Ham, scalloped potatoes, deviled eggs, lemon cake, the works. Yum. I tried to make it festive. Who knew I could find another use for my purple feather boa during a religious holiday?! CSP says it looks like how they would decorate for Easter in Vegas. I don’t think that’s such a bad thing!
With love from us and our Easter Puggies.
I had to repost this one because I just love it so much:
