Had to break into the puggy bank.
But now we can plan a nice anniversary dinner! It will be 8 years on March 3rd!

Friday night we went to my sister Sara‘s gallery debut. We all felt very grown up. Two of her photos are now hanging in a gallery!
That’s Marc (my BIL) and Sara with her photos. Sara framed them really nicely and the gallery put them in a great spot, right up front. There was lots of milling about and mingling.
Papa, Gigi, Momo, Marc, and I all came to support Sara.
I tried to take a group shot of us myself but it didn’t work out.
I may be biased, but I think Sara’s photos were some of the best in there. By a LONG shot! I did like this picture though. Be sure to click on it to enlarge. It’s a TEENY tiny baby hummingbird perched on a person’s thumb!
Impossibly cute! Check out the rest of the pics from the night here. I’m so proud of Sara! -
- Black Notice, Patricia Cornwell

- Last Precinct, Patricia Cornwell

- My Sister’s Keeper, Jodi Picoult
I’m trying to read more this year. My goal is at least 30 books. So far I’m doing pretty well, but it is Winter. I’m also tracking this on Facebook in the visual bookshelf app. So do any of you have any recommendations for me? And don’t say Twilight because I KNOW. I’m on the waitlist at the library. Number 9 now! In fact, I’m about to leave for the library to pick up 6 more books. More Jodi Picoult and Sophie Kinsella. But I’d like more suggestions! What are you reading right now?

I won an award from Nevis. It’s for being a creative blogger! I also won an award from Pam. It’s for having a great attitude. There are simple rules…you merely have to list 6 things that make you happy. The only thing hard about that is narrowing it down to only six!Okay, six things that make me happy are:
1. Chilling at home with my husband and pugs. All four of them make me laugh so much.
2. The moment I walk into my sister’s house. Jacob and Joey squeal with delight. “Aunt Shanny!!!” For a couple minutes a feel like a rock star.
3. Writing letters. The old fashioned kind. With pretty stationary and pens with fun colored ink.
4. Game night with my family. It always, always results in major belly laughs. You know, the ones where you actually go silent for a few seconds because you’re laughing that hard.
5. Trips. Travel. Planning for said trips and travel. Packing. Making lists. Doing research about the destination. Road trips-singing in the car flying down the highway. Airplanes. Hotels. Hotel toiletries. Welcome centers at the state lines. Maps. I love it all.
6. Makeup, lotions, potions. All the things that make being a girl so fun.
Oh, and I would like to give this award to Lisa, Sara, Lisanne, & Shannon.

The official note she sent to the fam & friends: I went to see the hematologist again today and he says we are now in stage 2 of the process, which is the figuring out exactly what it is stage, because there is not much more improvement and he can only keep me on steroids for so long. That being said, I am better now than I was when I first started seeing him months ago. The steroids did help a quite a bit. He did say that he’s pretty certain that it is not lymphoma, which is really good. It actually might be a defect that I was born with. I will go to Presbyterian Hospital on Thursday morning to get some tests done and depending on those results I may be going up to Chapel Hill for a day of tests. Fun. lol! But whatever it takes is fine. I’m tough. :) And then we’ll have an answer and be able to move on!
I’ll let you know more when I do. Thank you again for thinking of me. :)Sara
Now, if it is a congenital thing then Jake & Joey may need to be tested. Same for me and my mom even. This is so frustrating. I wish they would just fix her.

It seems that the way I live my life is really bothering people. And that is really bothering me. (more…)

Exciting news to share! One of my sister’s photos is going to be a Hallmark card! In stores! Across the country! Can you believe it?? The inside will say “I’m nuts about you.” Look for it in Hallmark stores this summer. So proud!
