I thank you all for all your support and encouragement. One day, after our adoptions are final, I will be able to set the record straight on a few things. Until then I thank you again for your support and friendship. It’s so nice to know that I have people looking out for me, people who care so much about us, our adoption, and our future kidlets.
Bless Your Heart

Momo turns 21 next Spring and she wants to go to Vegas to celebrate. I looooove Vegas! But jeez, we just went in August 09 and now we have a kidlet on the way. I have no idea how I’ll be able to pull this off. Next Spring is also our 10th anniversary and in December 2011 CSP turns 40. That’s a LOT of celebrating for one year. I hope we win the lottery between now and then! If we really are able to afford to go to Vegas it would be wonderful to be able to stay somewhere in view of the Vegas Bellagio Fountains. (more…) -

Today I met up with Gigi at their house. We ran a few errands (yay for checking in opportunities on Foursquare!) then went to visit Gmommy at the nursing home. Afterward we met up with Papa to see Valentine’s Day. Save it for a dvd rental. It was cute but not cute enough to rehash after over dinner.
While we were out and about we stopped in at Walmart to look for some khaki pants for Momo to wear to work. We were searching all through the clothing department until we finally spotted a Walmart employee to ask for help. From the front she looked pretty normal, like a sweet grandma. I noticed her hair made a gray halo around her face. Then she turned around and we were blown away!
I couldn’t sneak a pic without being caught so you’ll have to make due with this drawing I did on my phone. The back of her head in the middle there was a mound of hair. Then circling her head was a perfect hair tube. Like a giant hair sausage ring sitting right atop her head. There must have been some sort of clip or band holding the shape. We could NOT figure it out and Gigi was too chicken to go ask her about it. The hair tunnel extended out into space a good 3 inches all around her head. It was fascinating! I could barely take my eyes off it. It was like a floating follicle UFO!In other news our adoption class was snowed out again Saturday. I am normally a HUGE winter fan and I adore snow but this has gotten ridiculous! The forecast for this week looks promising though! We’re working on all our homework. Tons of forms and paperwork and copies of this, that, and the other. Makes me wish I were a little more organized. They want copies of our high school diplomas. Who knows where those things are?!
Also, I want to extend an apology to my Facebook friends. I’m so sorry that Farmville has sucked me in. It makes me post all these things on my page like “Shannon found a rare golden egg. Click here to get one too.” I know that annoys the hell out of some of you but when you’re a Farmville ho you’ll do what you have to do, man. My family made fun of me for a while. Yeah, now Sara & Gigi are both hooked too. Sara’s only on Farm Town but Gigi & I have farms on Town & Ville! It’s insane! No wonder I haven’t filed our taxes yet, I’m too busy harvesting peppers!

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope everyone had a wonderful day and I hope you told all your loved ones just how much you love them. It seems that the WASPy of us aren’t as comfortable throwing the L word around. I know that for a long time I wasn’t all that comfortable with it. Then Momo was born and later I met CSP. And then I got sick and had to have all those surgeries. Now I don’t really care if you’re not comfortable with it, I’m telling you. If something happens to me I don’t want there to be any doubt in my loved ones’ minds that I love them. So friends- I love you! And I’m so glad to have you in my life! Family- I love you! I don’t know what I’d do without you. CSP- I love you! I’m so thrilled to be on this adoption journey with you. Ling Ling- I love you! And we’re coming to bring you home! -
Gung Hay Fat Choy! Tomorrow is the first day of Chinese New Year! This is the year of the Tiger. Happy New year! We’ll always have a connection in our hearts to China. They (the adoption program) dumped us, not the other way around, and we’ll always hold a special place in our hearts for China and children adopted from China. Not too long ago we were walking in to a store and we saw a Caucasian woman walking out with two Asian daughters.
Me: Did you see them?
CSP: Yeah.
Me: How long do you think it will be before we see them and, you know, not feel sad.
CSP: Never. We’ll always miss China.
This might not make sense to people who haven’t adopted, but when you make the decision to adopt you go in whole heart, usually after lots and lots of thought, soul searching and research. So of course it leaves a imprint of your heart when it’s over. We miss it. We miss what we’re missing out on. You know that saying “You don’t miss what you never had”? Not always true. So we still celebrate Chinese New Year. Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Papa and Gigi have just informed us that they have rented a house for the family for a week at the Outer Banks
this Summer. SO excited! I’ve never been to the Outer Banks and I’ve always wanted to go. I’ve loved seeing all of Jenny’s pics from her yearly family vacation there. Too bad we won’t be there at the same time. We’ve had our boys (CSP & Brotha Marc, my BIL) put in for vacation so we’ll all be together. This is the first vacation we’ve all been together for since Papa & Gigi got married in 2006. It’s gonna be great!
Now, if you know me at all then you know I’m a huge planner. I’m so happy when I have a trip to plan for. I’ve already got all kinds of lists going. Packing lists, shopping lists, things to do before we leave lists. The only problem is since we’ve never been to the Outer Banks I don’t know what to do there. Any suggestions for us? There will be a lot of us: Papa, Gigi, Momo, Marc, Sara, Jacob, Joey, CSP, and me so keep that in mind. I so wish we could take the pugs but you have to pay all kinds of money to the rental place and Papa’s not a big fan of all 3 of our pugs together at one time. I guess they are a bit much for him.
So let me know where we should go, what we should do, and keep your fingers crossed that we see some wild horses!

We had our first full day of class Saturday. There’s a LOT I can’t tell you, but there’s some that I can tell you about. Our teacher/instructor/facilitator is awesome. She’s the same lady that did our orientation. Love her.

My new favorite band is Zach Fowler and the Essentials.
My sister Momo introduced me to them when she was dating their bassist. Normally I would have thought “Oh great, now she’s gonna make me listen to some sub par garage band.” And actually that is what I thought. Until I heard their new CD. They are SO good! They are kind of a mix between Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson and 311. I can’t stop listening to them! Check em out on Facebook (where you can listen to their debut album)
and pick up their cd on iTunes! -
When you adopt you have to provide a TON of very personal information to your agency, your case worker, the state, tons of people. It makes you take a very close look at yourself. I’d say I’ve always been fairly self-aware but lately I have started to notice that I have some weird tendencies.
- When I dab on my cuticle oil in my head I make this noise every time when I touch the brush to each nail. Banga, banga, banga.
- When I put on my makeup I host an infomercial in my head. I go through each step and help viewers with their day or evening looks. I provide valuable tips.
- I sing in the car. Loudly. And I swear to you, when I’m alone and singing with the iPod or radio, I sound fantastic. As soon as someone else starts listening I go completely tone deaf. It’s the darnedest thing!
I am also aware of my faults. I am:
- bossy
- possessive
- jealous
- impatient
- annoyed easily by stupidity (stupidity, not ignorance. Ignorance can be overcome by learning.)
- convinced that if people would just do what I say then they’d be much happier and better off in general.
- a bit lazy
- horrible at time management
I’m working on these things so I can be a good parent, but some are just ingrained in me because I am a classic textbook Leo. And you can’t fight the stars!
What are your little quirks?
