I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I sure did. I hosted my very first Thanksgiving and it went really well! We had tons of food and fun. We deep fried the turkey and it came out great- so juicy!
Candice & Devin from next door came over with their kids. They are from Iowa, so a deep fried turkey was a first for them. They loved it though. We all had a lot of fun. Papa said grace and it was so sweet we were all crying by the end of it! I made mac & cheese, green bean casserole, and 2 pumpkin pies. They came out really well! We also provided the turkey and the oil.
I found pretty place mats at Target (I didn’t have 8 matching before) and I thought the table looked pretty.
Papa prepped the turkey:
CSP had to work third shift and into the morning Thanksgiving morning, but after a nap he came down from the closet and joined us.
We had some extra excitement after dinner as a firetruck and ambulance pulled up.
We never found out what happened. But the truck couldn’t get through because the dorks in my neighborhood park on both sides of the streets. Drives me nuts. So the firetruck just laid on his horn until people started to move. Candice grabbed my camera and went running to take pics of the parking offenders so we can report them to the HOA. We have driveways and overflow parking areas but people just get lazy. I tell you what though, if someone I loved died because the ambulance couldn’t get past your car, oooh, you’d have a world of hurt coming to ya!
Then we went in for pie and more visiting.
I went to bed exhausted, stuffed, and happy. The way Thanksgiving should be! Surrounded by the people you love and good food!
Pictures here!
