Back in the Saddle

I’m back at work. Those two weeks both flew by and lasted forever at the same time. It all ended on a high note though with our mini holiday. We drove up to Woodbridge, VA and met up with Rachel and Brian for dinner at Macaroni Grill. It was our first time there and it was pretty good. I was especially excited because it was my first real dinner in 2 weeks! And of course it’s always good to see Rachel and Brian. We wish we all lived closer. They’re our favorite couple to hang out with. It’s tough to find a couple where everyone gets along so well and has so much in common. Afterward we went out for frozen custard (another first for me). It was very good- nice and creamy. The custard shop was really busy. Apparently it’s Woodbridge’s hot spot. We also dropped into IKEA for a little while. We picked up a couple of things and it really got us excited for our big shopping trip Saturday. We woke up early and got to IKEA around 10. Shopped til 3 then headed home. We spent a lot more than we had budgeted, but we’re really happy with our purchases: coffee table, bedside table, office chair, rug for kitchen, rug for den, and lots of small things.

On the way back we drove through an incredible thunder & lightening storm, the first major storm of the season. Big storms are definitely one of the benefits of living in the south. We spent Sunday putting together all of our new goodies and picking up Nelson from my Mom’s. And now I’m back at work. I tell ya, I could definitely get used to the life of leisure. If only this work thing wouldn’t get in the way!
