I’ve done a little administrative work over at Flickr and have created a couple of groups to make things a little easier come BPOH or PhoBloDays time.
So go here to join the Bloggy Parade of Homes group. And here to join the Bloggy Photo Days group. Molly thinks it’s a swell idea!

I’m excited about the amount of people who want to participate in PhoBlo Days! I’ll be sure to send email reminders.
In other news….I try to visit my Gmommy at the nursing home once a week. For those of you just joining us, my Grandmommy has Alzheimers and is in a fantastic facility. It’s about an hour drive. I usually time it so my Mom can go too. Then we can take Gmommy to the on site beauty parlor and do her hair and nails. She’s always so happy to see us, and we time it so we leave at 5pm- her dinner time, so she’ll be distracted and not upset about us leaving. We have a great time when we’re there, especially with the big cast of characters in Gmommy’s wing. She’s so happy there and they take good care of her.
Last time we visited we were walking up the sidewalk and could see in through the big glass door. There was Gmommy pushing a friend along in the lady’s wheelchair. Gmommy saw us as we were coming in and yelled out “My family’s here! Woohoo!” and gave her friend one big push. While Gmommy’s whooping it up and spinning around, the wheelchair lady is flying down the hallway! So funny!
There’s a lady there we call Numbers (she’s always asking what’s your number) who always spots me and makes a bee line for me. She’s constantly trying to kiss me on the mouth! I give out hugs, but I have to draw the line somewhere Numbers! One lady is always yelling about calling the law. And if you’re not careful they’ll corner you. I got blocked in a little alcove yesterday by the wheelchair brigade, all yelling about something or another while Numbers was waving her arms around (she had socks over her hands for some reason) and giving me the eye. I swear, they should make a sitcom about life in the nursing home. I wonder who we could cast as the old guy who has to wear a backwards jump suit cause he keeps whipping out his wienie?

Well folks, it’s time for the Autumn Edition of Photo Bloggy Days! The last time we did this was in June and it was a big hit. So if you’d like to play along (and I know you do!), here’s the 411:
So we are going to photograph our days and share them with our bloggy world. If you’d like to take part remember to leave a comment on my blog or email me at heyshanny at gmail dot come to let me know and I’ll link to you on the big day.
Here’s the dealio:
Take a picture at least once every 2 hours. Photograph everything: your breakfast, the inside of your shower, your view when you wake up, what you see on your commute to work, your desk, your lunch, you get the idea! Things you think are every day and mundane to you are interesting to us!Post your photos of Friday &/or Saturday 11/16 & 17. You can do both days to show the difference between work & play, or just the one day. I wanted to include a business & non-business day for variety. For those of us who don’t work outside the home, don’t fret- there’s tons of stuff for you to photograph!
Take pics of your day then post them later. Like you can take pics all day Friday then post them on Saturday or Friday night. Take your Saturday pics then post them Sunday or Saturday night or Monday even. No need to continually post throughout the day. Although you can do that too if you’d like. It’s totally laid back about when you post. Just make sure your photos are of Friday and/or Saturday. The main goal is to be able to go to different blogs and see what our bloggy friends were doing at the exact same time. Like I wonder what Lisa in Baltimore was doing while I was having lunch in Charlotte. That kind of thing.
Carry your camera with you all day. Start now to get into the habit. Go to sleep with your camera by your side!
Hope you’ll play!

Play along if you’d like. Leave me a comment so I can go read your answers.
1. What kind of soap is in your bathtub right now? Burt’s Bees ginger shower gel, Caress (I think) Moroccan spice (I think) body wash, and bar soap- the same Moroccan spice stuff.2. Do you have any watermelon in your refrigerator? No, it’s November!
3. What would you change about your living room? Put up crown molding (hint hint CSP), add a vaulted ceiling, make it bigger, more windows, put in bamboo flooring, one of those flat MTV Cribs tvs.
4. Are the dishes in your dishwasher clean or dirty? Dirty, of course!
5. What is in your fridge? skim milk, sweet tea, orange juice, half & half, cottage cheese, leftover spaghetti sauce, cheese, eggs, tons of sauce bottles.
6. White or wheat bread? neither, Pumpernickel or rye please. Or one of those bakery bread boules.
7. What is on top of your refrigerator? basket full of napkins, couple of serving bowls/trays.
8. What color or design is on your shower curtain? The only shower curtain is the guest bath (we have a glass door) and it’s pale aqua with sea glass beads.
9. How many plants are in your home? 3- 2 half dead bamboo plants (started their untimely demises while I was away in Florida. Coincidence? I think not.), and a Crown Of Thorns I’ve miraculously kept alive for like 2 years.
10. Is your bed made right now? Heh, no, is yours?
11. Comet or Soft Scrub? Soft Scrub. Although I buy Comet. SS costs too much, but Comet doesn’t rinse away as easily.
12. Is your closet organized? if by organized you mean that most of my clothes and shoes are in piles in the bedroom, then yes.
13. Can you describe your flashlight? yes. you turn it on, it gives light. Who makes up these questions??
14. Do you drink out of glass or plastic more at home? plastic
15. Do you have iced tea made in a pitcher right now? Yep. A gallon of vanilla chai.
16. If you have garage, is it cluttered? There is literally just enough room for me to pull my car in. But if I have passengers they have to get out in the driveway. We’ve got to get that thing organized.

21. Standard toothbrush or electric? electric. My dentist recommends it and I do what he says or he brings out the drill.
22. What color is your toothbrush? white and aqua.
23. Do you have welcome mat on your front porch? Yep. And I have seasonal ones too. It can become a storage issue. Probably explains the garage situation.
24. What is in your oven right now? a cookie sheet. Some burned on food on the oven floor. Better add that to the list!
25. Is there anything under your bed? No. We don’t have an underbed. The bed frame goes to the floor.

I tell ya, we’ve all been fretting and worrying for Shannon about her referral. But finally she got some news from her agency:
Well it has been a rough couple days around here. Yesterday my agency sent me an email saying that although China had matched through Dec 8th, 2005, we were NOT going to get a referral. Needless to say, I spent much of yesterday absolutely devastated. You can imagine the heart ache it caused knowing our date was included but for some reason we were skipped. It was a long night thinking I would have to wait until the first week of Dec to see Emily for the first time.
This morning I found out that China “forgot” to mail my agency their package. Turns out we have a referral after all!! Since they didn’t mail it until yesterday, we won’t have Emily’s picture and specifics until Monday Nov 12. This sure beats waiting until next month, let me tell you!! We were able to learn a few details before they mailed the packages. So what I know right now is
All the babies matched through my agency were under 1 year. (YAY!)
The babies are in Chong Qing at the Fengdu County Social Welfare Institute (orphanage). This part of China is known also as Sichuan (like the spicy food!) and is where the pandas are (the national zoo is there)On Monday we will get her photos and all the specifics. Her exact birth date, weight, personality report. I never wished for a week to go by quickly so much!!
I AM SO EXCITED. Tony is almost speechless, and of course, my parents and sister are thrilled. It is hard to believe it, but in 8 weeks or so, I’m going to get to hold Emily for the very first time!!! It’s been such a rollercoaster the last few days, but I’m really thrilled right now. What a day!! I’ll send out more info next week.

I feel so badly for Shannon & Mustachio. She was supposed to get her referral today and didn’t. And her agency sucks and isn’t communicating with her. My heart hurts for her.

Did you know that November is National Fondue Month? So go out and warm up some cheese and dip stuff in it! -
I was just on the phone with Shannon and I pulled up the CCAA site to check to see if they’d updated, and they have. And she’s in! “The CCAA has finished the placement of children for the families whose adoption application documents were registered with our office before December 8, 2005.”
My girl Shannon is getting her girl! Mustachio is gonna be a Daddy-O! I am soooo thrilled for them!

We watched Transformers on Friday night. It was surprisingly funny! When it was over I sat up to turn the light on and this is what I saw:
