Today we are in lush Samana, Dominican Republic! We woke up to a super humid and rainy day, but that’s ok as we’re staying on the ship today. First we got ready for the day and brunch at Razzle Dazzle.

To have brunch in Razzle Dazzle (or the Wake), you make a reservation in the Virgin Voyages app. There’s no additional charge. Also, there’s a secret menu item at Razzle Dazzle! A bleu cheese smash burger!
CSP & I both started out with an apple cruffin.

For my appetizer I chose the watermelon with granola, yogurt, and frozen fruit.

CSP chose the avocado toast.

For my entree I had the acai bowl.

It was sooo yummy!
CSP got a bevy of dishes for his main course. He chose the salmon bowl, candied bacon, and fries!

BTW, CSP is a big coffee snob and he LOVES the coffee on Virgin!

For dessert we shared the rainbow churros.

After brunch we went to our room to regroup and plan our afternoon. We filled up our tumblers in the Galley then scoped out the pool deck. It was still raining just a bit and everything was wet on deck, plus the music was v loud (we’re old!) so we went back to our room to read on our balcony. I was happy to take a turn in that fabulous hammock!

Later we went down to OPA hour at the Dock. OPA hour is where they serve Greek tapas. We ordered cod souvlaki, goat cheese polenta, a mezze platter with hummus, tzaziki etc., and shrimp skewers. None of this was an extra charge.

It stopped raining and was nice and breezy out at the back of the ship.
Next it was time for more trivia at the Social Club.

We found this red Christmas tree so we tried to take a fun pic- CSP looks great in the ornament, me- my face looks like it’s melting! Ha!

Then we went back to our room to shower and get ready for dinner and Scarlet night! Love how there’s a big digital wall in the elevators that changes to let you know what’s going on. The color scheme changes all the time too!

Dinner tonight was at the Wake. The Wake is the steak and seafood restaurant. It’s easily the fanciest restaurant on the ship. It’s located in the back of the ship and we got the best table in the restaurant- overlooking the wake!

When we were first seated there were two guys sitting next to us. They were watching videos on their phones at FULL VOLUME! FULL VOLUME!!! Remember a minute ago when I told you this is a fancy restaurant??? I don’t understand people!!!

To start, they brought us pull apart bread with herb butter.

It was warm and yummy!

CSP started with the clam chowder. ^^^ They brought the broth out in a little pitcher that he poured over the chunky bits. He said it was excellent!
I started with the wedge salad.

CSP got the bone marrow and he said it was delightful!

CSP’s main course was the prime rib served with brussell sprouts and Yorkshire pudding.

I chose the shrimp and grits. It was different from traditional shrimp and grits in that it’s tomato based. It was really good!

For our sides we shared the creamed spinach, twice baked potato, and mushrooms. All so delicious!
We noticed that the wake had turned red for Scarlet night!

Dessert for me was the coconut panna cotta. YUM. Note all the vegan and gluten free options on all the menus! Love that!

CSP got the sticky toffee pudding off the holiday specials menu.

He loved it!

They turned the hallway lights red for Scarlet night!

We went up to the pool deck to see the big octopus that they put out for the big Scarlet Night pool party.

We had to get a photo of the big logo all lit up at night!

We went up to the Galley to fill our tumblers and saw a bunch of crew members carrying big, light up orbs for Scarlet Night.

CSP & I in our red for Scarlet Night! But we’re too old to hang at the pool party so after we filled our tumblers and got our pictures taken that we wanted, we went to bed! Ha!
Tomorrow is our last sea day!
