Tour of the Lawless South Day 3

Another fun filled day in the South. Today we started out by having lunch at Captain Steve’s. We were able to meet the Captain and he’s a bit younger than I pictured. But it was very good. Plus, they have malt vinegar there and there’s nothing better than fries with vinegar.

After lunch we continued our little shopping spree with much success at DI Central, Paper Skyscraper, and Metropolitan Deluxe. We stopped by South Park Mall to check out the new Nordstrom’s wing which includes a Pottery Barn Kids. So excited to see all that cute stuff in real life and not just in the pages of the catalog.

After shopping we were early birds at Catawba Bingo where we quickly realized we are so not professional bingo players. Some people had multiple dawbers, bingo computers, the works. This was my first big bingo playing ever (minus elementary school and once on a cruise) so we were all very excited. This really nice man and his mom thankfully took us under their wing to teach us what to do. The facility was HUGE and the bingo callers all sounded like auctioneers. We could barely keep up. But Rachel did win $50 so there’s hope for me next time. And when she won Lisa and I clapped and cheered and apparently no one else does that there. We got lots of strange looks. I’ve still got hot pink bingo ink all over my arms. We ended up at bingo from 6-10:30. Who knew it was such a time consuming activity? No clocks in the hall (like Vegas).

We went through the Jack in the Box drive thru on the way home and were disappointed they wouldn’t comp us milkshakes since their drink machine was broken. It’s 30 cents and isn’t 30 cents such a small price to pay for customer loyalty? We called 1-800-455-JACK to report it, but apparently since it wasn’t an emergency (to them) it didn’t warrant a late night phone call. I am a little concerned that there are apparently that many food emergencies at JIB that it calls for a hotline. Hmm. I’m also fully aware that I’m using the word apparently way too much in this post.
