Disney Wonder Western Caribbean Day 4

Cozumel day! IMG_0586.jpg We woke up early for breakfast at Cabana’s buffet.  IMG_0585.jpgOn the way back to our room we stood in line to meet Pirate Stitch! While we were waiting for Stitch, Pirate Mickey was meeting fans and doing pictures.  When I spied across the atrium….Pirate Minnie!  She blew kisses to Mickey then came over to see him.  They were so cute!!!

IMG_0582.jpg

The Disney photographer’s took a few pictures with CSP, Stitch, and me, but they were too $$$ to buy so you’ll just have to settle for this one of sweet Stitch- my favorite character!

Remember I told you about those Happy Anniversary buttons?  Well I pinned one to my lanyard (that holds your Key To The World Card that you use for everything).  And let me just tell you that EVERYONE has stopped to say Happy Anniversary! It was so sweet!  Like crew members would stop by our lunch table just to talk to us about it!  Or would shout it out as they walked by us in the hallways!  Disney really knows how to make you feel special!

We got ready for our day and had lunch at Triton’s again. Then we headed up to the theatre.  We got CSP the refillable popcorn bucket.

IMG_0584.jpg You pay like $7 for it then every refill is just a dollar and change. CSP ate a LOT of popcorn on this trip! That man was carrying his bucket around all day every day like a small child!

Oh, you might be wondering when we’re going to Cozumel? We decided to skip it this time.  We’ve both been numerous times and this go round we decided to just relax and enjoy the empty ship!

Oh, so we were at the theatre to see Star Wars The Last Jedi.  pexels-photo-699739.jpeg

I fell in LOVE with the porgs!!!  OMG! they are so cute! Like if pugs were birds! After the movie we went up on deck for a while to read and people watch.  Then back to the room to get ready for dinner tonight at Palo.  Palo is the adults’ only Italian restaurant on all the Disney ships. It is always amazing and tonight did not disappoint!

Our server was Mladen from Serbia.  I recognized him right away from embarkation day!  CSP was watching the Arsenal soccer match on his phone while I was waiting to get our dining rotation modified.  Mladen would come over every so often and ask the score of the game.  And then here he was, our server in Palo!  He was fantastic.

We got to PaloIMG_0588.jpg IMG_0589.jpgjust in time to watch the Pirate Night fireworks! IMG_0591.jpgWe had a perfect view!

Dinner starts off with antipastiIMG_0592.jpg and bread service. IMG_0593.jpg

We both ordered martinis.

I had the Palo martini and CSP had the lemon basil martini.  I liked his more than mine!

CSP had cippino

for his appetizer and I had the traditional caprese salad.  For our entree’s CSP chose the Dover Sole (which Mladen filleted table side) v v fancy.

I ordered the butternut squash agnolotti (Like a ravioli) which was divine!  Oh I forgot to mention the palate cleansing bit of lemon sorbet they serve you just before your entree.

Also pictured above is the salt service.  If you ask for salt they bring you smoked salt, a salt from England, and another salt which I forgot to write down.  I tried them all.

For dessert I normally get the chocolate souffle but Mladen told me they have a new souffle- Amaretto! I love amaretto so I had to get it. It was amazing!

IMG_0606.jpg

IMG_0605.jpg

IMG_0604.jpg CSP got the tiramisu and he loved it.  Mladen brought us a limoncello tart to share as well.

The meal finally concludes with a frozen limoncello shot. IMG_0611.jpg

We thought our evening at Palo was finished but Mladen had a surprise for us!

How sweet was that???  After pictures and promises that we’d be back later in the week, we rolled our full bellies back to our room for bed. IMG_0613.jpg

Tomorrow….Costa Maya, Mexico!

Disney Wonder Western Caribbean Day 3

Sea Day! We woke up early and had breakfast at Triton’s. IMG_2677.jpg IMG_2657.jpgThen we went back to our room to get ready for the day. We took our time and hung out in our room until it was time for lunch.  Right back to Triton’s for lunch!  Then we went to the Buena Vista TheatreIMG_0547.jpg to see Coco.  I’d seen it once already but CSP hadn’t seen it yet.  Disney cruises show all their current releases in the big theatre on the ship.  It’s an awesome way to see new movies without paying extra! Also, on sea days the pools are PACKED so good luck getting a chair in the shade!  Back to the movie…I secured our seats and CSP went up on deck to get us drinks.  He brought me back a surprise Dole Whip! I was so excited! I’d never had one and had been looking forward to trying one on this cruise.  IMG_0548.jpg

It was SO yummy!!!

After the fabulous Coco we went down to the Future Cruises desk.  We already had our cruise booked for January 2019, but we were able to re-book it onboard and save a ton of money plus we will receive a $200 onboard credit when we sail now. Yay!!!

Once we had our next cruise sorted we went up to the Quiet Cove Cafe to officially meet Laci and Rusty for drinks.  We all got along famously and before we knew it, it was time to go get ready for dinner!  Time flies when you’re having fun for sure!  We made a quick pit stop in Crown and Fin Pub on our way back to our room.

Dinner tonight was at Animator’s Palate. IMG_0556.jpg

We were seated at table 51. IMG_0554.jpg You have the same table number every dinner, and the same service team, just in a different restaurant each night! Love how Disney does this! Tonight was formal night so we got all dressed up IMG_0555.jpg(which is one of my favorite parts of cruising- getting dressed for dinner).  Our servers were Alit from Bali and Kwan from Thailand.  You can see Alit in the picture above and I’ll show you Kwan later.  We just LOVE them both!

Tonight during dinner they dimmed the lights and put on an animated show IMG_2700.jpgand then CSP’s favorite Sorcerer Mickey came through the dining room!!!  IMG_0562.jpg

After dinner we went up to our room to get ready for bed. IMG_0571.jpg

Each night we’d come home to a fabulous towel animal, chocolates, and the next day’s Navigator (a newsletter showing you what goes on during each day of the cruise).  About 1 am I woke up and saw that Laci had texted me while we were asleep.  I answered her and before I knew it, her daughter was at our door delivering a case of Evian water and some goodies! We were able to text at sea via Disney’s Cruise app, so no extra charges.  Yay!

Disney Wonder Western Caribbean Cruise Day 2

This morning we woke up early, got ready and went downstairs to get breakfast. During breakfast I dropped a bagel loaded up with cream cheese and honey toppings side down right on my chest. CSP laughed so hard at me I thought he was going to stroke out! So much for my clean shirt!!!

We got on the road to Port Canaveral just before 10 am arriving about 11:20. By the time we got parked, unloaded the car, got through port security and check in, we were able to walk right on the ship! LOVE Disney’s organized check in system. We went straight to Guest Services to borrow a power adapter for my CPAP machine. Then we went to the Promenade Lounge to change our dining rotation. Easy peasy. IMG_0528.jpgNext up was lunch at Triton’s. We prefer to eat at the sit down restaurant on embarkation day because Cabanas up on the pool deck is packed with people.

Lunch was very nice. The people at the table next to us were first time cruisers. I remember that feeling!

After lunch we went back to the Promenade Lounge for our Facebook group’s meet and greet. One thing I always recommend to people cruising is to join your Facebook cruise group. You get to know some of your fellow cruise mates ahead of the cruise and if you’re a newbie you can learn so much! Plus you can sign up for gift exchanges and special events. Our group administrator was just amazing! So my main goal at the meet and greet was to let her know how much I appreciated her. In line to check in at the meet and greet I met Diane and her mom. Diane is mentally challenged and turned 30 on the cruise.  It has always been her dream to go on a Disney cruise. Her mom is part of our Facebook group and posted Diane’s picture so we’d all know what she looks like so we could wish Diane a happy birthday.  It was so great to finally meet them!

Our rooms were ready at 1:30 pm so after the meet and greet CSP and I went to our room to drop off our bags.  Upon arrival to room 6534 we found our Castaway Club gifts: a sling pack bag and 2 cool luggage tags. IMG_0530.jpg

We checked out our room IMG_0531.jpg

and I discovered Disney left us a little giftie for our anniversary! IMG_0532.jpgI also discovered CSP had packed his pockets full of Cholula hot sauce for the cruise. Keeping it classy! IMG_0533.jpg

CSP LOVES watching the dock workers prepare the ship from our veranda. IMG_0534.jpg

Then unfortunately it was time for my least favorite cruise activity- the muster drill. UGH.  Our muster station was up on deck 4 right in the sun. IMG_0535.jpg

After the dreaded muster drill we went down to the new Crown and Fin pub for a cocktail before we set sail.  The Wonder recently went through a large renovation and the ship is just beautiful! You’d have no idea it’s 19 years old unless someone told you!

I enjoyed my first coconut mojito of the trip and CSP had a bourbon fizz.  To our surprise we noticed we had started moving at 4:45, 15 minutes early.  We watched the shoreline disappear from the pub then headed back to our room to unpack. Upon arrival we found an anniversary present from Laci & Rusty! L&R are a couple we “met” through our Facebook cruise group.  Turns out they only live a couple hours from us and we have tons in common!  They gave us the sweetest tea cup set! IMG_0893.jpg

We were unpacking when we ran out of hangers.  I stuck my head out our door and found our room steward Niel.  He brought us an extra dozen hangers and was so sweet!

Then we got dressed for dinner. Tonight we were in Triton’s for dinner. IMG_2637.jpg They had a French menu so CSP was thrilled to eat his escargot!  IMG_0540.jpgI had my favorite creme brûlée for dessert.

After dinner we spotted PlutoIMG_2632.jpg on the way to the shops onboard to pick up our traditional magnet with the year on it and a gift for CSP’s mom who’s home pug sitting.

After our little bit of shopping we went back to our room for bed! IMG_0541.jpg It was a long, but great day!

Disney Wonder Western Caribbean 2018 Day 1

Today was our travel day! We got a late start due to being up late packing and doing last minute things because we spent the better part of the day at the Apple store getting CSP’s phone fixed. V frustrating! But better late than never!
We arrived in Port Orange, FL around 9pm looking for a place to have dinner. CSP found a place on Yelp called Aunt Catfish’s on the River. We got there just as they were seating the last lucky few. This place is FULL of personality. It’s right on the water and they gave us a window table. I’m sure in the daylight the view is amazing. They have a dock where you can drive your boat up for a meal. It looks like they’ve added on to the main building a few times. There’s an old fashioned salad bar. They make their own croutons and dressings. Service is awesome! They serve each meal with a homemade cinnamon roll and the best hush puppy you’ll ever have (it’s the size of a golf ball so you only need one). IMG_0527.jpgEach meal is also served on the cutest fish plates! IMG_0526.jpgWe both really enjoyed our dinner then went to find our hotel.
We stayed at the Country Inn and Suites in Port Orange/Daytona. Great service, nice rooms. I booked the hotel through Ebates and got an amazing deal, plus cash back! We hit the hay as soon as we could because tomorrow is a big day!

Disney Fantasy Eastern Caribbean Day 9

Today we woke up extra early to get ready, pack last minute items and disembark.  There are 2 ways you can disembark on Disney Cruise Line.  You can meet early in the lobby, tote your own luggage, and leave the ship on your own. That’s Express Walk Off.  Or you can go to breakfast at an assigned time and have the ship handle your luggage.  Then you’d pick up your luggage in the terminal on your way out.  We chose to do the Express Walk Off because we like to hit the road early so we can get home at a reasonable time.  Because we have late dinner we would have late breakfast so we wouldn’t even sit down to eat until 8 am.  Because of the mechanical troubles, we were still moving when we woke up!  We weren’t able to leave the ship, even with express walk off, until 8 am because of being late to the port.  Even still, there were NO lines in customs so we breezed right through and were out to our car within 20 minutes of leaving our room!  Love how organized Disney is!

I forgot to tell you something!  When your ship is sailing away, your loved ones at home can watch via the Port Canaveral web cam!  Mom of CSP watched us sail away and took some screen shots of the Fantasy.Untitled Untitled

Back to our last day of vacation… the drive home was uneventful except for Blanca (my trusty RAV 4) turned 100,000 miles! Untitled

Now the Fantasy was scheduled to leave today for a Western Caribbean cruise at 5 pm.  But because of the mechanical troubles she had on our cruise she didn’t leave until 7:15 pm!!!

Even with mechanical troubles we still had a magical vacation and we can’t wait for next time!!!

Disney Fantasy Eastern Caribbean Day 8

Today was our last sea day. We were bummed we weren’t going to be able to go to Castaway Cay, but we decided to make the most of it!  First we went to breakfast at Cabanas. Then we went to the spa to use our Rainforest Room day pass.Untitled The Rainforest Room is really lots of rooms Untitled and awesome amenities available for use.  There are aromatherapy showers, saunas, hot tubs with views of the sea,Untitled and heated tile loungers.Untitled Ahhh the heated tile loungers!Untitled The best place on the ship to read your book. Untitled We made great use of the Rainforest Room all morning Untitled until we had grumblings for lunch.

We dried off as best we could then went to Royal Court for lunch. Afterward we decided to put our free $200 to good use and stopped by the gift shops.  All week we’d been eyeing BB8.  And now we could get him guilt free!  Plus we were able to use our 10% discount for being Gold Castaway Club members!  We dropped BB8 off in our room and CSP went to play another round of the golf simulator with Kevin.  I took a nap while they golfed then got up and started organizing and packing since today was our last day on the ship.  CSP came back to the room and we went up to Satellite Falls.  It was closed due to extremely high winds so we went back down to the Quiet Cove adult pool for a while. Untitled We hung out in the pool until I got too cold then we went back to the Rainforest Room for a couple hours until it was time to get dressed for dinner.

Dinner tonight was at the Enchanted Garden. UntitledUntitled We had a great dinner and said our goodbyes to our serving team of Diartha and Yami.Untitled Then back to our room to pack where we found a rhino! Untitled We watched Lilo and Stitch (Stitch is my favorite) while we packed and filled out our comment card. It was time for bed.  We have to get up early tomorrow!

Disney Fantasy Eastern Caribbean Day 7

Today was another sea day!  I like sea days because they give you time to enjoy the ship.  Today we woke up and showered and got ready for brunch at Palo.  Palo is on the back end of the ship with gorgeous views of the sea.Untitled We went up to Palo and Luca, our server, met us in the Meridian Lounge.Untitled The chandelier at the entrance of Palo. Untitled There is a big debate amongst Disney Cruisers as to which is better at Palo- brunch or dinner?  I love them both!  Brunch is amazing.Untitled First your server gets your drink order then walks you through the brunch buffet, explaining each sectionUntitled and giving recommendations.Untitled Then you are on your own to explore the buffet. UntitledUntitledUntitled Your server will check in on you from time to time and will place orders for the larger entrees and pizzas.  Today CSP got the orecchiette with salmon, salmon and risotto (he loves seafood!), and lasagne.  Luca brought us both lasagnes even though I said I didn’t want one.  He told me trust me, you want this lasagne.  The portions are on the smaller side compared to dinner so you can try many things.  Luca said he wanted us to try everything!  I ordered a goat cheese and sun dried tomato pizza, chicken parmesan, strawberry soup,Untitled and of course, the lasagne. CSP picked the sun dried tomatoes off the pizza and tried some of it too.  I don’t order chicken parmesan anywhere else- it’s incredible! And Luca was right about the lasagne.  It melted in your mouth.  It was made with a béchamel sauce instead of cheese and the meat sauce had carrots in it, so it was quite different from the lasagne I make at home!  I wish I could make lasagne like that! One of the touches that makes Palo special is how they present their iced tea.  Instead of frozen water ice cubes they use frozen tea! So your tea never gets diluted. Arguably the best part of brunch though, is the dessert. Untitled They offer an array of tiny little sweet masterpieces Untitled and they always remind you that on vacation calories don’t count! Untitled They even give you the tiniest of spoons to taste everything with.  Love.

After brunch we waddled back to our room to relax for a bit until it was time to meet up with Amy and Kevin. On the way we heard bits and pieces of an announcement from the captain, but we didn’t know the full story.  We found out more about that later.

Kevin and CSP went up to the sports deck to play in the golf simulator while Amy, Ellen and I went to the Royal Court Royal Tea Party. We were seated at a table with Ruby (age 4), Ruby’s mom, and Ruby’s Godmother, all from Dublin, Ireland. They were fun to talk to.  The event was too cute. Each girl was deemed a Princess and was announced to the room upon entering. At the table there were gifts waiting for each princess. They received a Cinderella doll,Untitled a jewelry box with a charm bracelet and necklace inside, a gorgeous autograph/memory book, a fancy pen for getting autographs, and a cookie with their name on it.  Once we were all seated Lady Chamomile came out and welcomed us.Untitled Untitled Then Chef Brule (pronounced like creme brule) came out Untitled and the two of them sang songs and worked the room.Untitled Next it was time for the princesses to arrive.  First came Belle,Untitled then Tiana,Untitled then Cinderella.Untitled Each princess stopped by the table twice.  The first time to chat with each girl, then the second time to sign autographs and take pictures and chat a little more.  They were all so beautiful and sweet to the girls.  And each princess brought the girls a gift- a charm for their charm bracelets.  We were served teas of our choosing (the girls received apple juice), and they brought out a serving platter full of tiny finger sandwiches and sweets.Untitled  Then the adults were brought warm scones with clotted cream and jam while the little girls each got a cupcake in a tea cup.Untitled It was all just lovely and I’m sure any little girl’s dream!Untitled

After the tea I went down to O’Gills Pub to meet up with the boys. I visited with them for a while then went to the Future Cruise Desk.  By this time Amy had filled me in on that captain’s announcement.  One of the ship’s motors was out and it meant we would not be able to stop at Castaway Cay tomorrow! Boo! This is the second cruise in a row where we’ve missed Castaway Cay!  In October it was because of Hurricane Joaquin, and now this. Because of missing Castaway Cay and it was technically Disney Cruise Line’s fault, they offered us compensation.  Each stateroom received a $200 onboard credit and 20% off a future cruise. Normally when you book a future cruise on board you get a 10% discount. So you can imagine the line was pretty long.  I found Amy in line ahead of me, and got in line behind a couple we’d met during the cruise. Chatting with them made the wait more bearable. I booked our cruise and went back to the room to meet up with CSP and get ready for dinner.

Dinner tonight was back at Animator’s Palate.  Tonight everyone drew a cartoon person on a paper we were given. Untitled They were collected by the waitstaff and animated on the big screens around the room. It’s really cute how they do it.

After dinner it was back to the room for bed, where we were greeted by a towel frog!Untitled

Tomorrow… Castaway Cay!  Nope, another sea day!
