drama in the parking lot
as i was pulling in to work this morning i was witness to the strangest accident. i had just turned off my car and was gathering my things when i noticed this girl hop out of an suv. the suv seemed to keep moving so i assumed she had just been dropped off but i thought it odd that they wouldn’t have pulled up closer to the door. so she’s booking it to the office building like a track star, i guess so she won’t be late. meanwhile her suv promptly rolls right into one of the team leader’s truck. apparently she didn’t put it in gear. how do you not notice that you’re jumping out of a moving vehicle?? it sucks to be at work and have something happen to your car in the parking lot. a few years ago this 16 year old kid took a joyride in his grandma’s buick, jumped the embankment of the parking lot, tore through the shrubbery and literally landed right on top of my little honda civic hatchback. so when i come outside all i see is the ass end of a buick that’s smashing my little car into the pavement. it required a month of repairs but wasn’t totalled i guess because it was new-ish so the damage didn’t outweigh the value. but how wacked out is that to be at work and not driving and still wreck your car?

You are 40% evil! [?]
You’re more good than evil, but not by much. You’ve drank straight from the carton of milk in the refrigerator, and maybe kicked the neighbor’s cat, but you’re still good. Kinda.

curling is now a canine sport
the cats & the dog are starting to get a long a little better. meaning that the kitties don’t go tearing out of the room when nelson comes in anymore. they sure aren’t buddies yet, but we’re getting there. nelson’s doing the funniest thing now. when it’s time for him to go to his room for bedtime he know’s what’s up once we get down the hall. (we have to keep the animals seperated at night and while we’re not home for now until they really get used to each other.) so anyway, just as we’re nearing the spare bedroom where he’s sleeping he starts to slow down. then he’ll flip over on his back and go dead weight. so i have to push him down the hall on his back. it’s like curling with a dog. we have hardwood floors so he slides really easily. the whole time he’s looking up at me smiling his little dog smile. once we get to his door i give him a good push off and he slides right in! i say goodnight, close the door and we’re all set. i should try out for the olympic team next time. i’ll get husband to take the position of the broom guy and we’ll be gold medal bound!! -

happy mother’s day
sunday i got up sooo early and was way productive. i gave nelson a bath & cleaned the house then headed out to church. there was a baptism so it was really cute. little baby mikah. the preacher walks the baby up the aisles to we all get to see him. so cute. of course this puts my mom in a frenzy for a grandchild and the rest of the service she’s whispering to me about bassinets & baby clothes. we met up with my middle sister sara then headed over to guytano’s for brunch. it was very good but sooo crowded. lots of kids, toddlers & babies. i just love little children in spring church clothes. then we headed out to mcgill rose garden to check out this year’s rose crop. very nice picture taking. after the rose walk we picked up my littlest sister morgan then went round to the open houses in the neighborhood my mom wants to move to. we also checked out one house in a neighborhood we’ll never afford– the house was listed at $1.5 million! huge panic room type house. but we did happen upon one house my mom’s considering. i just hope she hires a moving company this time. she has sooo much stuff. then it was time to head back to my house for dinner with the in-laws. they met nelson and my f-i-l fell in love with him. my m-i-l went into librarian mode recommending all these books on dogs etc. dinner was good. jon grilled steaks & shrimp and we had baked potatoes and a nice salad. i made baked brie with brown sugar, walnuts, & honey served with crackers. sooo good. they didn’t leave til 10 so after clean up it was late getting to bed. which means i’m a sleepy head today. yaaawn. -
get around, get around, we get around…
saturday morning we did some yard work then jon and i spent the afternoon running around doing errands. we went to kohl’s for shorts & socks for him (and a pair of shorts for me), target for a hawaiian shirt for me for work (more on that later), a magazine rack for mom, and random other needful things, sports authority for some new nike’s for me, dick’s for golf balls for hale (belated birthday present- he was out of town on his birthday), party city for bridal shower supplies, sam’s for groceries, misc things and this garden hose trolley thingie husband had to have, then finally harris teeter for grocery things you can’t get at sam’s. we ran into craig the limo driver there in the wine section. he drove the limo the night of my sister morgan’s 12th birthday. i think he’s still in traumatized. by the time we got home it was after six! after unloading the car (we took full advantage of all available cargo space jorge my rave 4 had to offer) we debated on what to do about dinner. i didn’t want to make a huge dinner with having his parents over the next night. we ended up doing arby’s drive thru. got home just in time for trading spaces. i like how they’re running 2 in a row lately. interesting to see another arguement over design between hildy and the big haired lady ( a la doug and the sobbing lady with the fireplace). -
gasp!
friday night husband and i went to see panic room with my mom and hale. (hale is my mom’s boyfriend- she calls him her companion. the whole family’s anxious for them to either get married or something as they’ve been dating now for just under 4 years and when you’re middle aged that is just too long unless you’re goldie hawn. i digress). panic room was really good. there was a lot of gasping and clenching of husband’s hand. it was nice to see a strong woman character. the house in the movie was just too big for my tastes. it was absolutely gorgeous, but i just couldn’t handle living in such a huge house without going nuts from worry that someone’s breaking in all the time. -
short attention span theatre
i think i’m developing a.d.d. can you just develop it? example: i’m working on this project at work for diversity. we’re putting up a bulletin board and i was supposed to go to party city and the dollar store to get supplies. last week. forgot to go. every day this week i’ve been writing myself notes, reminding myself, talking about it with the other committee people. and i still haven’t gone! i keep forgetting. i remembered last night at like 11. i’ll have to go this weekend and so now the board will be soooo late. i just get so distracted so easily.must see t.v.
last night i watched friends. it was a good one. monica and phoebe were cracking me up with betting on rachel’s delivery time. but that’s kinda all i watched. i sorta watched will and grace but i found it kinda sad and a little boring, except when karen was at the prison. i just love her. jon was flipping back and forth to the hornets’ game and that’s just so distracting. but i did catch a little bit of house hunters. i love watching that show. it cracks me up to see that these people are looking at houses to buy, they’re there for like 10 minutes and they’re all “let’s write an offer!” like they’re buying a t shirt or something. i put more thought into buying a car than they do when it comes to the house! and these houses- i know they must be telling the sellers that their homes will be filmed. you’d think they’d try and clean up a little. some of these houses have piles of trash in the back yard, or just general clutter everywhere. not the best way to sell your house. it’s also reassuring to see that other people might look at 49,000 houses like we did before we bought. our poor real estate guy earned his commission. we worked him to death. but we sure are happy now in our sweet little house. -
the worst mother ever
last night after work i went to michael’s to pick up some crafty supplies for the centerpiece for my sister’s shower on the 19th. i’m turning the tool turn about from pampered chef into a “wedding cake”. it’s not edible, just pretty. anyway, i was a good mom to nelson and went home 1st to let him out, then ran to michaels. i got back and put the kitties in the office and let nelson have free run of the house. we’re trying to get them all used to each other, it’s just a looong process. so we were hanging out on the couch and he finally settled down into a half sleepy mode so i thought- what a good time to clip his nails. i clip nimbus’ nails all the time so how hard could a dog’s be right? the first few were fine, then he jerked his little hand and the clipper came down wrong and it cut into the quick! blood was flying everywhere because he was shaking his paw. it was all over my face and shirt and the couch (thank the lord for slipcovers) and then he’s running around on our cream berber carpet(!!) and all through the kitchen and down the hall. it looked like a massacre scene. he yelped when it happened but quickly forgave me. now if i can only forgive myself. i feel sooo bad. i called my mom and almost cried when i told her then i had to clean it all up. i called jon (who was working til midnight again. i hate his job) he says “let’s just leave that to the professionals.” thanks for your support. and sweet nelson just wants to hang out with his butcher of a mother. =( -
