Have you seen what’s on tv right now as I type this? I don’t usually watch the WB- I’ve never watched it actually, no real reason, just haven’t. But I sure will now because Tammy is on TV! Who could pass up a show with Tammy Faye, Vanilla Ice, and Trishelle?!

We’ve been getting a lot of stuff done around the house. Pics to follow. Mainly we wanted to get the dining room finished for my mom’s birthday dinner tonight. It’s looking great! Speaking of, I have a cake to bake and some mirrors to paint and hang.
I’m also thinking of just getting my own domain since I apparently talk way more than Blogger would like. Any advice?

The other night I’m asleep, but not really. You know, that halfway point where you’re still pretty asleep, but your mind is trying to work normally. I’m on my belly and I’m feeling awfully warm. Then I feel sweat bead up and slide down my left side. I think to myself “man I’m hot for it to be winter.” Then I feel sweat run down my right side and I think “there is no way I’m this sweaty.” Then I hear Ike snoring. And I realize he’s sleeping on the small of my back. And that wasn’t sweat. I wake Jon up- Honey- did Ike pee on me? It’s 2 am by the way. Yep, he sure did. So I have to lay there under a puddle of quickly drying puppy piddle while Jon runs Ike down to the crate then back up with the paper towels. Nothing like having to strip your bed and change the sheets in the middle of the night!

Squared
We bought this cube-y table with storage from Ikea. It came in a natural, bare state, so we painted it black and put it in the den. It took forever with all those tiny square holes! But it was worth it, it’s perfect for storing games!

Resolve
Jon and I have made 1 resolution each for this year: get our house organized. This includes finally unpacking everything, finish the interior painting, paint/stain the new furniture pieces, put all the pictures up on the walls, work on the landscaping, finish decorating. So far we’re off to a good start. Jon started painting the hallway/foyer today, and we spent a good amount of time last weekend hanging art, mirrors, and installing hardware in the bathrooms. Our dining room table is coming tomorrow- I’m so excited, I’m really loving the way the dining room is turning out.
Here are some photos of our progress:
This is the corner shelving unit we painted for the foyer.
We hung a long silver mirror and 2 silver candle sconces in the dining room.
While Jon was securing the hanging wire on the mirror, Ike became very angry at the pug that he kept seeing in that long, silver box!
We took out the large mirror in the guest bath that came with the house (too apartment looking) and replaced it with this one:
. We’ll be painting that bathroom soon.
I found these on clearance at Target in the Christmas ornaments, but I thought they did a better job dressing up my curtains in the dining room. -
Technical Difficulties!
For some reason I can’t publish to this blog anymore. -
They’ve been forked!
Last night was a lot of fun- we played the $25,000 pyramid game Sara gave me for Christmas, had some cocktails with family and friends, and Jon had his first (of many) beer from his kegorater. Today we slept in then went to my Mom’s for a New Year’s Day party with the traditional black eyed peas & collard greens meal. Eating that is supposed to make you rich. Hasn’t worked yet! While we were there we sat out in the beautiful weather for a while and found a little gecko lizard running around. My mom picked him up and clipped him to my ear. He hung out there long enough for me to scare the other guests. Did you guys ever do that as kids? Sara and I always had lizard earrings!
When we pulled up to my Mom’s we noticed the neighbors had been forked! For those of you not familiar, teenagers come to your house in the middle of the night and shove a million plastic forks in your yard. It was pretty funny to see, but it can’t be much fun cleaning up!
Tonight Jon and I painted a corner shelving unit we bought at Ikea back in the summer. While painting we made a mental list of all the new things we want the next time we go to Ikea. Good thing I’m already planning a trip! -
Happy New Year!
Hope everyone has a wonderful NYE! We’re hosting a little shindig at our house tonight. Jon’s breaking in his kegorater, and we’re having game night. 2003 was a great year. Lots of travel, lots of changes. I’m sure 2004 will be even better!

Sweet Talker
“Um, can you move over a little? I keep breathing your exhaust.” —My husband to me as we’re going to sleep the other night.

Holiday Recap!
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Christmas Eve we went to my Mom’s where we spent the night. Ike, Mom, Hale, Sara, Marc, Jakey, Morgan, and Grandmommy were there along with Mom’s dog Sam and cat Roger. Ike had fun opening presents, especially this stocking full of rawhide from his aunt and uncle! Jake had fun playing with Santa . Everyone loved the presents we gave and we all had a big time. Especially Ike- he loved helping everyone open presents!
Christmas day we had to stop by Jon’s store to do a refrigeration check (ah the glamorous life of a grocery store manager). Everything went great until Ike needed a clean up on aisle 9!
Then we went to Jon’s parents’ house. We had a big wine and cheese tasting with cheeses they flew in from France. One was rolled in ashes and one was completely brown! I was brave and tried them all. Then we had a low country shrimp boil for dinner and opened presents. Ike had to spend some time in his crate there though because his parents have 7 cats living in the same house! Ike’s big pug eyes + 7 sets of claws = trouble. He was able to come out a good while though, and opened lots of presents.
