Bless Your Heart

Living out loud in the Carolinas

CSP & I have been doing a lot of thinking and we’ve come to a decision.  It pains me to say this but we won’t be posting any pictures of our kids on Facebook.  We have some friends who’ve gone the same route we are traveling to adopt their kids and they’ve had to remove all the pics and info of their kids from all social media.  Some of the bio family hunted them down post adoption.  We don’t want to end up in a similar situation.  So we’ve decided to not publish their little faces or names on the interwebs.  This is hard for me as I use the internet and social media to keep in touch with so many friends and family.  But this is the right choice to protect our kids.  Instead of using social media to update friends and family on our kidlets’ adventures we will be relying on good old fashioned email.  Please send me your email even if you think I don’t have it if you’d like to be included in email updates.

This is just smart, and even though it’s a bummer for those of us who would love to follow your adventures, you have to do what keeps your family safe. :) Maybe you can just post cute pics of little toes and fingers or something. LOL.

Hey there. I’ve been bad about following blogs but often wonder how your process was going. I’d love to hear a quick update if you have time to drop me an email. What program did you end up with? I remember you switching countries several times and then I thought you were going domestic or maybe foster? It sounds like things are finally progressing though so congratulations!!

Hey Shannon, you are doing the right thing. Here in NJ it’s illegal for a foster parent to post pics of the kids online until the adoption is finalized. And then I would keep them private. However, you can privately email the pics to people. Good Luck!!

It is a sad thing that you can’t openly share your joy, but, you can’t un-ring a bell. Better by far to be cautious than have regrets because you weren’t.

I have been following you for years, and am so happy for you; I can’t imagine my life without my little guy. You are making a very wise move to not post pictures, but if it doesn’t feel too strange to send them to someone you’ve never met, I’d love to get kid let updates.
