After Sara & the boys left I was exhausted from their visit so I tried to catch a little cat nap. A little while later Papa & Gigi came to visit. They brought fun cards and flowers and helped me eat my lunch. I got worn out trying to cut my chicken. While they were there I gave Papa his Father’s Day present. I know it’s late, but you may remember I’d been fighting with Apple about delivering it, and it finally came the day before I went into the hospital. I have to give you just a little background about why I made a photo book for Papa for Father’s Day. He travels a LOT for work and takes with him a manilla file folder with loose photos in it of all of us. Most of them are photos he printed on regular printer paper. It’s a pitiful sight. So I stole his folder one day, scanned in the photos that I didn’t have, put them together with the ones that I had taken, added a whole bunch more that I knew he’d love, and made a photo book.
Papa is hands down the best person to give a gift to. He oohs and ahhs and just makes you feel like it’s the best present ever and he couldn’t possibly be happier. He was just thrilled with it. He & Gigi looked it over then the nurse came in.
Papa was all up in her business. Then she announced it was time for me to go to the bathroom (up til about an hour before I’d been catheterized) and for her to change my sheets. So we sent Papa out to take a walk. Good thing too as you will soon see. So the nurse and my mom got me out of bed and the nurse took my hospital gown then deposited me on the loo. Now we had been told that they could change the sheets in like 2 minutes so imagine my surprise when I was left naked as a jay bird on the pot, out of reach of the door, long after the nurse changed my sheets. She went off looking for a pillow case and just left me there! She finally came back to tell me that they were out of pillow cases and to give me a new gown. They got me situated back in bed and the nurse went to find Papa. She found him messing around with a tv in another room. He was so cute though, he was looking at her, then his book. Her, book, her book. Then finally he piped up “Hey! Have you seen my book?” Before Papa & Gigi it seemed left all the staff on my floor had a good look at his book! Also sometime before they left my mom knocked over a cup that seemed to hold gallons of apple juice. It took forever to wipe up.
I was able to nap a wee bit (emphasis on wee) that afternoon and then Jon came back. He walked in and instantly wondered what was going on with the sticky floors (apple juice incident). He got settled then I looked over to see him standing right up against the wall. Then BANG! BANG! He was hitting the wall.
What are you doing???
Ants!
Ants?
Ants.
In my hospital room? On the 11th floor?
Yup.
Seems they either came in with some flowers or sniffed out the apple juice. Who knows. Thankfully that night they were merciful enough to give me a sleeping pill and I finally got a few hours sleep, and that meant Jon got a few too. Yay!
One response to “Hey! Have you seen my book?”
This is like some… adventure I never want to experience! Dude. How did you do that book? I clicked on your link but is there something I purchase? Is it done for you? I LOVE that idea and totally want to jump on it. You know me. Photos are my life. MY LIFE I tell you.
