Bless Your Heart

Living out loud in the Carolinas

Ok, so for my Papa for Father’s Day I made him a photo book. You know the kind where they print the photos on the pages and bind it. Well I did it all through iPhoto and Apple. Easy peasy to build and order. I was all kinds of excited about it. Then I got the ship confirm email. They were sending it to my old address. Doh! So I called FedEx and they said they needed Apple to call them and they could reroute it no problem. I called Apple. Things seemed fine. The phone guy said he sent in a note to the department that handles those types of things and it was all under control. Then I got an email that said they couldn’t change my order after 90 minutes from the time I submitted it. Back and forth we went with the emails and phone calls and 3 days later I ended up with this: After careful consideration of your request, a refund for order 4##### will be issued in the amount of $$$.$$. The credit will be issued to your credit card within 3-5 business days. Please contact your credit card company for more information on when the credit will post to your account.

Please note that this refund is a one-time exception to the Apple Print Products Sales Policy. For more information on our sales policies please visit blah blah blah.

Well I didn’t ask for a refund. I just needed someone to make a 2 minute phone call. Both my new address & old address were in Apple’s system so they knew I wasn’t a photo book hijacker. I’m so mad at them. I’m a hugely loyal Apple and am personally responsible for 3 PC to Mac conversions and purchases of Macs beyond my own. Punks. So instead of making that easy phone call they wasted time and resources going back and forth with me via email and phone and now I have to make a new photo book while mine will most likely be returned to Apple and then trashed. What a waste.

Enough of that….in other news…my little sister Morgan landed herself a hostess job at a nice restaurant and she is so excited. I’m so proud of her! She’s been working for the last 3 years at a pizza joint on the weekends, but it was for cash so she’s psyched to get a “real” job with a real paycheck.

My Grandmommy moved into a nursing home last week. I’m really excited for her. I think she will do so much better there than at my aunt’s (where she was previously). She loves all her new friends and the home is just 45 min away so I’ll be able to see her much more often. There are lots of Alzheimer patients there and the staff is really nice. She’s already comfortable in her new room and loves to hang out in the common area. My Mom and I are coming up with some fun volunteer things we can do there. One thing we’re thinking of is my Mom cutting everyone’s hair (she used to be a stylist back in the 80s) while I paint their fingernails.

Shrek cereal has replaced Lucky Charms as my favorite cereal. I know it’s just a bowl of sugar but damn is it good. And of course it’s discontinued so my last box I’ll have to dole out in tiny bowls to savor it.

The sunburn I got in FLA is peeling. I love peeling sunburns. I don’t have much area to peel though as I was diligent with my SPF 60 application so it’s really just 2 strips on my chestal area where my straps rubbed the sunscreen off. So my a-peel is short lived. HA!!

Can I tell you how much I’ve been coveting and drooling over the Nikon d40? Esp since my nephew Joey grabbed my camera and banged it on the floor thereby breaking the zoom. It still works great and I love it so much but I want a serious camera for when we go pick up LingLing. I feel like I owe it to her to take good pictures of her home country as it could be a long time before she gets back there. The new issue of Real Simple has a D40 ad in it with a life sized D40 die cut. I’ve been carrying it around making clicking noises trying it out and dropping hints to CSP for my birthday (just over a month away, August 3rd, if any of you are rich, charitable types). CSP, the frugal man that he is, suggested I get a bunch of the cut outs, tape them all together, punch a hole through and live with that version of the D40. Oh ok. Why don’t I just take an etch a sketch when we go pick up our daughter? Nerd.

I can so relate to the FedEx situation. It wasn’t the sender’s fault, but somehow an important ADOPTION document wound up on the wrong local FedEx truck. They told us they couldn’t find the address. Hello, we know our FedEx guy by name – get the document on HIS truck. In the end, we ended up chasing down the delivery truck all the way to their warehouse. (In Atlanta, no small feat.) I’m sure that driver thought we were some kind of weird FedEx stalker.

Oy. I can so relate to the obnoxious online buying hassles. We bought a DVD player shortly after we moved from WI to CO and same thing happened. We would’ve told ’em the right address if they’d asked, but the system just took our old one and used it. Grrr … that was a headache and a half.

I am sorry Apple was being a suckass. They’re not as great as they believe. They made such a mess at my office with our computers. Uch.

Conrates to Morgan on her hostess gig that is so great!

I am very happy your grandmother is in a assisted living community. It will be great for her. That is wonderful you and your mom are going to be able to volunteer. Hah my mother in laws cousin who has dimensia she has visited her like six times since she was in the nuns assisted living community. Her commute would be a little longer but still. She expects everyone else to take her places.

I have to admit I leave peeling too. LOL.

I’ve been looking at the camera myself but that will be a long way off.

I’m sorry that Apple is sucking. Usually they are so great. That’s unfortunate.

I think you need a Nikon D40, too! Costco has one for $549, which I think is about $50 off!

I just bought a Nikon D200 and LOVE it. Of course, it has more bells and whistles than Mission Control at NASA, but that’s ok – I will Conquer it!!!

You can also go to the Nikon website – they are giving away free Nikon D40’s in an online contest on their Phototown page (where they gave the residents of Georgetown a Nikon d40)

    Good Luck!
