Halloween Wrap Up
We had a good many trick or treaters last night, but we’re still left with 2 big bags of candy, and we only bought 4. What happened? Last year we ran out of candy and had to hide in the dark, and we bought more candy then. Well, as it turns out, our neighborhood, and our town, could not figure out when Halloween actually occurs. Some pushed to have Halloween on Saturday. Well, our calendar said that yesterday, Sunday, was Halloween. So why change it? Apparently some parents thought it was too foul and demonic a holiday to celebrate on the Sabbath.
Now, let me tell you a bit about the kids in our town. They couldn’t be more polite and sweet. Last night those “devilish” children said some of the sweetest things. Every single one of them said thank you (minus the infants who couldn’t). A good bit of them complimented us on our Halloween decor. And one boy, around 13 years old, asked if we were the ones from last year with that cute little pug!
Maybe I’m a bit of a traditionalist, but I think we should celebrate holidays on the actual holiday. How would those people feel if we showed up knocking on their doors asking for candy on June 23? I usually stay away from political subjects on my blog, but we just couldn’t believe the fuss made over a bunch of princesses, ninjas, and Spidermen asking for a wee bit of candy on a Sunday evening.
So, what do you guys think?

Same thing here – crazy! (Sunday night was gorgous here too, compared to a rainy Sat.)

We were completely caught off guard by kids showing up at our door on Saturday night. Good thing I had a few renegade peanut butter cups lying around because we weren’t planning on buying any candy until Sunday morning (yeah, we’re the jerks who give out crappy Smarties because that’s all that’s left on the shelves).

i was actually kind of hoping some little kids would’ve showed up at our door on Saturday – because I’d tell those parents that I celebrate Halloween ON Halloween, so their kids wouldn’t be getting anything from me. It’s unfair to the kids I know, but parents have to deal with that – not me.

Halloween should be celebrated on Oct 31st no matter what day it falls on if you ask me. That’s one of the downsides to living in an apartment–no trick-or-treaters :(

Oh I meant to ask you…Have you seen the holiday book called “Homer for the Holidays”? It has pugs in it. It’s sooo cute. When I saw it at Barnes and Noble the other day I thought of you and Jenny (ljcfyi.com). We have a neighbor that has a little baby pug. Every now and then I’ll drive by and see them carrying it up the stares and stuff. I slow down to see it and everything. They probably think I’m some weird psycho. hehe.
