Some of you have asked about what I bought at Ikea this time. You’d think there wouldn’t be room in my house for more Ikea, but ha ha I haven’t even begun working on the bonus room or guest bedroom! I’ve discovered part of Ikea’s secret- how they take all of your money and you leave in a haze.
~ First of all you pick up each thing and think- this is only $1.99! I better get 37 of them!
~ As you’re walking through the store you’re writing big ticket items down on your list, but since they aren’t in your buggy, you forget about them until checkout.
~ As you approach checkout you think you’re doing great budget wise. You hand your list to the cashier and are drawn up in the frantic scene that is checkout. It’s not easy maneuvering a buggy and a flat cart, unloading, and bagging up all of your purchases at the same time.
~ Then the cashier turns to you and tells you the total (which is almost 3 times what the husband said you could spend).
So now what do you do? You’ve got no choice but to pay. And figure out how to get all this stuff in the car!
My big ticket item on this trip is this cabinet for the bathroom:
. We don’t have a linen closet in the master bath, and the cabinet we’d bought before just didn’t look right once we got it home. This cabinet is awesome- it holds a lot, and the towels are out of sight, keeping the bathroom clean and uncluttered looking. The old cabinet (not that old, just purchased in August) has been moved to the bedroom to hold my lotions and potions. I saw on some decorating show that you shouldn’t have all of your bottles and things cluttering up the dresser (like I have my whole life) so I’m making strides to turn the bedroom into an uncluttered sanctuary. Can you tell I’ve been paying attention to While You Were Out and Trading Spaces?? =) I’m so excited, all we have left to do in the master bath is switch out the mirror and some touch up painting and I’ll finally be able to post before and after pics!
