Living out loud in the Carolinas

Last night Mom, Hale, J & I went to dinner then to see the new James Bond movie. The movies were packed. I guess we weren’t the only ones looking for some heat for a couple of hours!

This power outage is making me appreciate things I know I took for granted somewhat. Like hot meals for instance. Last night was the first hot meal I’ve had since Wednesday. Not that we’re wasting away or anything, but it was sure better than the fruit cocktail and fig newtons I’ve been living on! Still no power. Luckily Hale’s power came on yesterday so J and I camped out on his floor last night. We were so excited to sleep in warmth. I hated leaving the pets at home alone, but I checked on them this morning before work and they were still just fine. I had made them little beds with blankets and pillows to keep warm, but it was still only 46 degrees in the house when I got there at 8. It’s supposed to get down to 22 again tonight. My neighborhood is still like a ghost town. It’s so weird. You don’t realize how dark it can get without streetlights. But you can sure see the stars now. It’s been pretty adventuresome! The only thing I really miss is that we haven’t been able to decorate or enjoy our Christmas tree. I was able to get some decorations up, like the jingle bell wreath above, but I do miss looking at the lights twinkle on our tree. We’ll just have to keep it up extra long this year!
