Bless Your Heart

Living out loud in the Carolinas

So finally I have time to recap.

Thanksgiving we had breakfast with my family at good ol’ IHOP. We went to J’s parents’ house for dinner around 3. His aunt, uncle, 2 cousins, and a couple that are friends with his parents joined us. We didn’t get home until around 11. I was seriously missing the deep fried turkey though. My sister was serving that at her house so I was jealous I wasn’t there and was choking down dry turkey instead. Oh well.

Friday we went to see a matinee of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets with my Mom, Hale & Morgan. Such a cute movie. It was funnier and more action packed than the last one, but I can’t decide if I like one better than the other. That night we went back to J’s parents to help them set up their Christmas tree. They always get an insanely large tree, and this one was no different. A twelve footer if I’m not mistaken.

Saturday my husband and I went on the hunt for the Christmas tree he wanted. J knew he had seen it somewhere, so 1 home improvement store, 1 mega crafts store, 1 large discount store, 1 website and numerous phone calls and finally- we found the one he wanted at the 2nd Sam’s we visited. We are now the proud owners of a 7 and a half foot pre-lit fiber optic tree. Holy cow. It kind of looks like this one. It wasn’t too difficult to put together.

Sunday I did a little Christmas shopping and a little decorating. I’ve got birthday shopping to do to as J’s birthday is next Thursday. Trying to keep it all from him is hard now that we have a joint account!

Monday was an odd car day for J. First a Jeep blew up in his parking lot at work. He said it was pretty wild watching a car burn like that. The heat from the Jeep Cherokee melted the tires of the 2 cars on either side. Can you imagine grocery shopping then finding out you can’t go home because your tires melted?? Then last night we went driving through the neighborhood to check out the Christmas lights and saw this white SUV completely flipped over in a front yard. No other car in sight, no damaged trees or anything, clear weather. We could not figure out how they did that. Odd day for cars.

That brings us to now. Now no holiday weekend would be complete without family drama but this post is long already, so I’ll fill you in later. Bottom line…we’re not allowed back to my in-laws’ house for Christmas!
