road trip drama

1st let me start by saying that ikea is amazing, but i’ll come back to that. after work and after setting up the cats and fish with food we hit the road. it took us over an hour to get to the other side of charlotte because of rush hour traffic. my mom called at 8 to see how the trip was going. she asked us where we were and when i said “concord” she died laughing because it was taking us soo long to get anywhere. the trip up was pretty uneventful until midnight. we had just switched drivers because i was too sleepy to drive anymore so jon took the wheel. i had just settled into a little nap when BAM!! i woke up and asked ‘what was that?!’ when i saw it. something hit my car from the road we guess. it hit just at the edge of the windshield and sent a crack across. we watched it grow from 3 inches to the mid point of the windshield by the time we got to our hotel. i thought jon was going to have a stroke. he’s all upset because, let me remind you, he just broke my back seat the night before. he finally calmed down and we checked into the hotel. i told the lady at the desk at hampton inn that we were in town to go to ikea and she got all excited. “oh, you have to have good walking shoes and lots of patience and you’ll have a ball.” we went upstairs and totally crashed. it was 2 am.
