Dia De Los Meurtos and Happy Halloween!

For Halloween this year I decided to take my obsession with sugar skulls and turn it into my costume!  I needed a costume because my sister & BIL hosted a FABULOUS Halloween party in conjunction with their across the street neighbor.  They’ve set the bar high!  Anyway, I didn’t want to spend any money on a costume so a Day of the Dead Sugar Skull was perfect!

I gave myself a couple hours to paint and I used every minute!  I started with a white base. IMG_5935  That took a long time to get the streaks and splotches out.  Then I moved on to eyes, nose, jaw. IMG_5936I used Snazzaroo water based face paints.  I curled my hair before I started painting so it would set.  2 hours later- the results! IMG_5941_2IMG_5949IMG_5950I wore all black clothes and pinned 2 Thirty One large rosette clips to a thin black headband.  To set my face paint I sprayed my face (and hair) with glitter hair spray!  I also wore a skull and crossbones necklace and large silver earrings.  Last but not least, sparkly lip gloss!

Then it was time to party!  The set up was awesome!  This is the candy table! IMG_5943_2There were plenty of toys for kids with allergies too.

The tables were all decked out with black candelabras.  So cool! IMG_5942Sara and Gigi looked so cute in their get ups! IMG_5946IMG_5945

Joey was Shadow Man!  You couldn’t see that kid as soon as he stepped out of the light! IMG_5947

The party was in Sara’s front yard for dinner, then we were to move across the street to the neighbor’s house for dessert and an outdoor movie.  Brianna the neighbor even carved a theme pumpkin to match the movie- Hocus Pocus!  The pumpkin was amazing!!!IMG_5944_2Alas, it was not meant to be.  We had just finished dinner and socializing when a storm came up!  We all dashed inside with the food and decorations.  CSP and I had to go home early anyway because he had to be at work at 5am today.

We had a ball though and we’re thinking this will turn into an annual thing!  I already have requests to do Gigi and Momo’s faces next year!

Viva la Excema!

So at Joey’s party, the funniest exchange happened  just as we were leaving.  Ok, first you need a little background.  Momo is dating a waiter from one of the local Mexican restaurants.  It’s all because of me by the way.  One day at the end of November, beginning of December, Gigi, Momo & I were all out at the nursing home then afterwards we decided to get something to eat.  So I voted Mexican.  They fought me and fought me but I won.  Papa joined us at the restaurant.  Throughout our meal every waiter in the joint peered in our dining area to get a look at Momo.  Then the bill came and our waiter said that Momo’s dinner was paid for.  We asked by who and they said Oscar.  So Momo said thank you and introduced herself and we left.  A couple weeks later Momo and I went to dinner there.  I made sure to spend a long time in the restroom after dinner so Momo would have to loiter in the lobby, giving her time to talk to Oscar.  Next thing you know, they are dating.  He was born in Mexico and speaks Spanish in that fabulous accent that makes all the girls swoon.

When Momo brings boyfriends around we all seem to turn into cougars in the den.  Her boys are getting older so it’s not as creepy as it would have been when she was in high school! 😀  Well Oscar came to Joey’s party.  When we were all leaving, Oscar said to Sara thank you for inviting me, etc etc.  About the same time I was telling her that she didn’t look so yellow that day (her disease makes her jaundiced).  We were talking about that and how was she feeling while Morgan explained to Oscar that Sara is sick and has a big spleen.  So he said goodbye to her with a nice hand shake.

Then it was my turn.  Oscar gave me a big hug and a kiss on the cheek.  I leaned back and told Sara about my hug and peck from the yummy smelling Mexican chico and pointed out that she just got a handshake because of her big spleen.  So Sara yelled out to Oscar:  Well… she’s got excema! I wonder if we’ll ever see that young man again.

There ain’t no party like a nursing home party

Last night we attended my Gmommy’s nursing home’s Christmas party.  There was food, Cute little snowman on my platedancing, and music.  Gmommy & Jack cutting a rugThere was this sweet old guy wearing a baseball cap.  CSP was wearing his Twins cap(of course) and at one point turned his cap around so he was wearing it backwards.  Then the old guy turned his around too.  The sweet guy in the baseball cap turned his hat around when he saw CSP turning his hat around. Very sweet.  We hung out for a good couple hours dancing with Gmommy until they kicked us out! Papa & Gmommy tearing up the dance floor More pics here.
